Believe it or not, I was pretty average height growing up. It wasn’t until about 9th grade that I suddenly grew a lot. I am talking probably 6 + inches in one year. I remember telling my mom at night that I didn’t want to go to sleep because I was afraid I was going to grow taller. At that time in my life, I wanted and would do anything to try to blend in and not draw attention to myself. I wanted to be like everyone else.
I saw being tall as a flaw- a flaw that I couldn’t change.
I struggled through jr high and high school about my 6'2 body. I have since learned to embrace my height and I now find the beauty in what I once saw as a flaw. I am now teaching my daughters who will probably end up taller than me that they are perfect just the way they are!
Take some time to love yourself! And take some time to tell the people you love, how valuable and special they are, especially the children in your lives!
